FAQ

How long will the session last?

A full session generally lasts 60-90 minutes (larger groups = longer session), which includes time for both posed and candid photos as well as changes in lighting, backgrounds and scenery. Mini sessions (available only at limited times) are 20 minutes long.

What time of the day do you schedule sessions?

Because I shoot primarily outdoors, the early morning hours or just before sunset are the most preferable times of the day for a session. I know that these can sometimes be difficult times for kiddos (especially the evenings!) but I promise that the lighting at these times of day are soooo worth it! Weekend slots are very limited but I offer many weeknight evening sessions.

Where will our session take place?

I specialize in outdoor portraiture and have many favorite spots in the area, but I am always open to trying new locations if you have a favorite park or fantastic backyard. I love farms and orchards, and other rustic settings. If weather (rain, wind, temps) causes a problem for an outdoor shoot, we will reschedule for another date. Please note that there is an additional fee for travel more than 20 mins from Auburn, NH area.

What should we wear?

There are limitless possibilities for portrait attire -fun hats, bright colors, textured prints and accessories are great on children and add flair and uniqueness to the final images. For family portraits, keep everyone’s outfits in the same ‘color family’ – choose a few main colors and and stick with it, but don’t be afraid to accessorize with accent colors! Maternity portraits have numerous possibilities. Some prefer soft, light-colored, flowing clothes while some want a pair of skinny jeans and their best leopard print high heels!

What if I need to reschedule?

Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule for any reason. Please note that deposits are non-refundable but can be used toward another session date if 24-hour notice is given.

When will we see our final images?

Please allow approximately 2-4 weeks for your final images to be proofed and edited; though quite often, they are done sooner than this. Once all image processing is done, I will be in touch with your gallery password and we can set up a time to review together and discuss plans for displaying your new images! One ‘sneak peek’ photo may be previewed on my Facebook page within a week of our session. You may ‘tag’ yourself or family members but do not crop out my logo and please provide a link or reference to Rebecca Cote Photography if you use them on your Facebook wall.

Why are there fewer final images than we saw you take?

To ensure you receive the ‘best of the best’, I will remove any photos where someone may have their eyes closed or is looking in the wrong direction, repeats of the same pose, or if it simply isn’t the image that I was trying to capture or doesn’t appropriately represent the style of Rebecca Cote Photography. My intent is to provide you with quality artistic images and capture everyone at their best. Most sessions will receive at least 20-25 final images, and often times more than that. The number of images can also vary depending on the number of subjects being photographed.

When do you offer mini sessions?

Mini sessions will be offered 2-3 times per year (most likely during the spring and fall). These are limited sessions and fill up very quickly. Mini sessions are first offered to current clients (current client = has had a session with me within the last 3 years). After current clients have had the opportunity to book the mini session slots, the remaining slots will be available for others to book.

I noticed some fancy dresses and props in your portfolio, can we use them in our session?

Yes! I will bring chairs, stools, blankets and crates to your session (based on the ages of participants of course!) If you are interested in using any of the boutique dresses that I own, please let me know ahead of time so I can bring the correct sizes. Please also feel free to bring any blankets or any other special items that you would like included. And yes, I love including pets, they are family members too!

Do you photograph newborns or births?

Unfortunately not at this time. You may see some old blog posts with newborns and births, but due to our hectic family schedule and limited studio space, I am not offering these type of sessions at this time. Hopefully I will be able to again at some point in the future!
